Questions this hub answers first

How many days does a Komodo trip actually need?

Three days and two nights is the shortest length that reaches Padar, Komodo or Rinca, and Pink Beach without a forced march. A single day trip works if you accept two or three stops in the closer western part of the park. Five days is where the northern manta sites and the southern beaches stop competing for the same hours. Beyond seven days the itinerary starts repeating anchorages rather than adding new ones.

Does the order of the islands change how long a trip feels?

It changes it more than the day count does. Padar and Komodo Island sit in the middle of the park, Rinca is closer to Labuan Bajo, and the manta sites are north. A route that zig-zags between them can lose two to three hours a day to sailing that a sequenced route spends in the water instead. Ask any operator to show the route as a map, not a list.

What has to be booked before the itinerary is fixed?

The SiOra e-ticket. Since 1 April 2026, Komodo Island and Padar require an advance online reservation through siora.id, and the park releases capacity against a cap of 1,000 visitors per day for the whole park, split into three timed sessions. An itinerary that assumes a landing without a session slot is a plan, not a booking.
